The event will feature the production of five 10-minute plays written overnight, devised the next day, and performed that evening. You read that right. In 24 hours, the plays will go from ideas picked out of bag to performances presented on a stage.

The theme for the plays will center on favorite DC places, people and things, which will be crowd-sourced on social media. So, if you want to join in the play-making, tweet your idea NOW with #liveart24 and @LiveArtDC.

“With our commitment to creating collaboratively developed theatre, we thought what better way to raise money for our ongoing projects than a 24 hour play festival highlighting the huge talent pool in the DC area,” said Heather Whitpan and Kevin Finkelstein, co-founders of LiveArtDC. “We can’t wait to see what our playwrights, directors and actors come up with for the night.

South Rail

In addition to the plays, three local bands – South Rail, The Iris Bell, and Clarence Buffalo and a silent auction will entertain guests before, in between and after the evening’s performances. All proceeds of the evening will benefit the work of LiveArtDC. The details are as follows:

About LiveArtDC: LiveArtDC (rhymes with “Give Art DC”) is a Washington, DC based company of artists who believe in the power of collaboration to create engaging stories for the theatre. Comprised of writers, actors, directors, dramaturgs and other art lovers, LiveArtDC is focused on the process of story and character development. No play is guided by a production deadline. Since they do not have the constraints of seasons or spaces, the company has the freedom to play and explore, and allow the work to emerge when it’s ready. Their inaugural show I <3 Hummels was incubated over three years, premiered at the 2012 Capital Fringe Festival and remounted last year in Washington, DC and Las Vegas, NV. Current projects include The Clara Bow Project, Causality, and coming this summer R+J Star-Cross’d Death Match at DC Reynolds.  For more info:  http://liveartdc.com
