Monumental Theatre Company’s annual Gender Bender Cabaret, Sex Swap, is back for a third time! This year, we are making the one-night event bigger and better than ever.
Monumental Theatre Company is a DMV based non-profit theatre company, dedicated to the work of millennial artists; millennial art for all generations.
Sex Swap breaks the boundaries of your typical cabaret, and becomes more of a variety show; filled with games, choreography, libations, and of course an amazing cast. We have two amazing hosts this year; 2017 Double Helen Hayes nominee, Christian Montgomery (Keegan Theatre’s American Idiot and Next to Normal), and, from Snap Chat, RJ Pavel (Monumental’s Urinetown).
Rounding out the cast is Paul Scanlon (Signature Theatre’s LaCage), Katie Mariko Murray (Signature Theatre’s West Side Story), Farrell Parker (Arena Stage’s Fiddler), Korinn Walfall (Roundhouse Theatre’s Caroline or Change), Nurney (Olney Theatre’s Mary Poppins), Rachel Barlaam (Monumental’s Urinetown), Chani Werely (Keegan Theatre’s American Idiot), Emily Lentz (Monumental’s Girl Versus Corinth), Javier DelPilar (Adventure Theatre’s Ella Enchanted), and DC favorite guitarist Brendan Lane (Monumental’s Warm and Toasty).
We are excited to welcome Paul, Katie, and RJ back to DC after their moves to New York, thrilled to have Farrell and Emily back for the third year in a row, and to have new faces to Monumental, as well as have some of our favorites back with us.
The Gender Bender Cabaret is created and directed by Co-Artistic Directors Jimmy Mavrikes and Michael Windsor. This year John Henderson will be serving as musical director.
Come and enjoy classical and contemporary musical theatre tunes, as well as modern pop and rock classics. Oh… and also your typical game of Bingo during the performance.
During the event, you can enjoy an “All you care to drink” special for $15 until 10pm. And be sure to try the “Swappy Shot.” All proceeds will go to Monumental Theatre Company.
You can catch Sex Swap 3 at 8pm TONIGHT Friday March 3rd, at Cobalt – 1639 R Street NW Washington DC.
Monumental is a non-profit 510(c)(3) theatre company based in DC, Maryland and Virginia. Join us later this season for Five Lesbians Eating a Quiche at Atlas Performing Arts Center and Bonnie & Clyde at Episcopal High School in Arlington, VA.
