Today from 5-8 PM. Taking Flight Theatre Company holds auditions for its next production: Equus by Peter Shaffer. The production will be directed by Haley Murphy. Auditionees should come prepared with dramatic monologues.

Movement auditions for horses:
9/9/2012 – 5pm to 8pm.

Callbacks by invitation only:
9/12/2012 – 7:30pm.

Auditions Location:
Waddell Theater on NOVA’s Loudoun Campus, 1000 Harry Byrd Highway (Rte. 7), Sterling, VA 20164.

Note to auditionees:
Please use meter parking; we are able to make change at the audition sign-in table Please no auditionees under the age of 16; the script contains mature content and nudity British accent a plus.

Show runs:
November 2-4, 9-11 and 16-17. Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 7pm.

Plot:
Equus is a Tony Award-winning psychological thriller inspired by a true story. It tells the story of psychiatrist Dr. Dysart and his young patient, Alan Strang. Alan’s dangerous obsession with horses leads him to commit an unthinkable crime, which leaves Dr. Dysart trying to unravel the reason why – leading to his own crisis of self-doubt. The show is filled with confrontation and mystery as it explores the relationships between devotion, myth and sexuality.

Character Descriptions:
Martin Dysart: psychiatrist, mid-40s up.

Alan Strang: patient of Dysart, 17 – requires full nudity.

Frank Strang: Alan’s father.

Dora Strang: Alan’s mother.

Hesther Salomon: a magistrate, mid-40s up.

Jill Mason: middle-class girl, rider, early 20s – requires full nudity.

Harry Dalton: stable owner

Young Horseman/Nugget (horse): played by one actor, young, must be very strong and able to carry Alan.

Nurse Five Horses: Five actors playing horses (non-speaking).
