If/Then is a contemporary musical that follows Elizabeth as she rebuilds her life in New York, a city of endless possibilities. Starring Tony Award-winner Menzel in her much-anticipated return to the stage, If/Then is an original musical set at the intersection of choice and chance, where the road you take meets the road you didn’t.

Menzel is joined by LaChanze, who won a Tony Award for her portrayal of Celie in The Color Purple and originated the role of Ti Moune in Once on This Island. LaChanze plays Kate, an elementary school teacher and new neighbor of Elizabeth.

If/Then reunites Menzel with Anthony Rapp for the first time since they appeared together in the original cast of Rent. Rapp is best known for originating the role of Mark Cohen in that Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical. He plays Lucas, an old college friend of Elizabeth, who reconnects with her when she moves back to New York City. James Snyder, who played the title character in the Broadway musical Cry-Baby, plays Josh, a doctor and army reservist who meets Elizabeth on her first day back in the city.

The cast also features Jerry Dixon (original cast of tick, tick…Boom!, Once on This Island), Jenn Colella (Chaplin, High Fidelity), Jason Tam (A Chorus Line, Lysistrata Jones), and Tamika Lawrence (Matilda). The complete company includes Joe Cassidy (Working), Miguel Cervantes (American Idiot, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Curtis Holbrook (West Side Story, Xanadu), Stephanie Klemons (In The Heights), Tyler McGee (Ghost), Ryann Redmond (Bring It On), Joe Aaron Reid (Catch Me If You Can), and Ann Sanders (Leap of Faith).

If/Then will feature choreography by Larry Keigwin, founder of the contemporary dance company, KEIGWIN + COMPANY. Keigwin choreographed the new musical, Tales of the City, at ACT as well as the recent off-Broadway revival of Rent. He is making his Broadway choreography debut with this production. If/Then will feature set design by Tony Award-Nominee Mark Wendland ((Next to Normal, The Merchant of Venice), costume design by Emily Rebholz (Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson; Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike), lighting design by Tony Award-Winner Kenneth Posner (Kinky Boots, Wicked), and sound design by Tony Award-Winner Brian Ronan (Next to Normal, The Book of Mormon).  The production will feature music direction by Carmel Dean and orchestrations by Tony Award-WinnerMichael Starobin (Next to Normal, Assassins).

Following its engagement at the National Theatre, If/Then will play Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre in spring 2014, beginning previews on March 4 and officially opening on March 27.

What they don’t tell you about the lottery is that the seats are unsellable because the view is severely obstructed…couldn’t see anything because the seats are far left or right underneath overhanging boxes. So much of the action in this show happens above stage level. With these lottery seats, what’s going on during those periods is left to the imagination. Not worth $25…seriously.
