WSC Avant Bard and the  Gallaudet University Theatre and Dance Program announce today that their co-production of Visible Language will livestream on the HowlRound TV networkSunday, November 16, 2014. This final performance in the show’s near-soldout run can be viewed live at www.HowlRound.tv  starting at 2 pm EST.

Visible Language is a world premiere, Helen Hayes Award Recommended© musical with book and lyrics by Mary Resing and music by Andy Welchel. Performed in American Sign Language and English, the show tells the true story of the 1890s culture war whentwo powerful and egotistical men–Alexander Graham Bell and Edward Miner Gallaudet–clashed over how the Deaf should be taught to communicate. The outcome of that contest, vividly dramatized in sign and song in Visible Language, changed the life of every Deaf person in America.

Visible Language is directed by Avant Bard Artistic Director Tom Prewitt with musical direction by Elisa Rosman. Complete credits and cast and creative/production team bios can be found in the Visible Language program, which can be downloaded as a PDF available here.

After the livestreamed performance, which runs 1 hour 50 minutes without an intermission, there will be a brief break followed by a livestreamed discussion with members of the creative team.

“****1/2 Language makes visible–nay, language makes felt, the hopes and dreams of each of us; and that desire is what makes Visible Language such a triumph.”

Robert Michael Oliver’s review on DCMetroTheaterArts

Running Time: Approximately one hour and 45 minutes, with no intermission.
