Photo Feature: ‘The Jonathan Larson Project’ at Feinstein’s/54 Below

Last week’s The Jonathan Larson project was a fitting tribute to composer Jonathan Larson, who tragically passed away in 1996 just as his seminal work Rent arrived on Broadway.

Featuring songs culled from Feinstein’s/54 Below Programming Director Jennifer Ashley Tepper’s five years of archival research at the New York Public Library and the Library of Congress, which houses the Jonathan Larson Collection, as well as from interviews with his family, friends, and colleagues, The Jonathan Larson Project presented audiences with a treasure trove of previously unperformed, unrecorded, and unheard material.

The cabaret show, which played 12 performances at the midtown-Manhattan club, was performed by leading Broadway players Lauren Marcus, Krysta Rodriguez, George Salazar, Nick Blaemire, and Andy Mientus.

Photographer Abby Warhola captured the show’s magic with a series of pictures for DC Metro Theater Arts. Reporting by Deb Miller.
