Applications are now open for the 2019 Capital Fringe Festival! See below for application details.
OPTION 1: FRINGE RUN VENUE
Participation in the Fringe Festival is an opportunity for you to develop your work in a competitive, but encouraging, environment with a built-in audience. Fringe Festival staff guide you through the six-month producing process, allowing you to develop your own skills. It is a chance for you to get feedback from audiences and other artists, and earn a majority share of ticket revenue (in 2018, participants earned an average of $1,235 in ticket revenue).
Fringe Run Venue DEADLINES:
Early Bird Application deadline through November 8, 2018, 5 pm EST.
Regular Applications end January 11, 2019, at 5 pm EST.
OPTION 2: REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
For the 2019 Fringe Festival, we are seeking to commission and produce work that explores key issues currently facing humanity: forgiveness, trust and how time can either unearth progress or leave it covered.
Proposals can be contemporary, classical, whimsical or abstract. Up to four selected works ranging from theatre to dance will be fully developed and presented in repertory, receiving 5 – 7 performances during the Capital Fringe Festival, July 2019 in Washington, DC at Arena Stage, the Mead Center for American Theater.
Request for Proposals DEADLINE: Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at 5 pm EST.
Capital Fringe will host two info sessions for interested parties to ask questions in person, meet other interested artists and go over the application in detail. They will be held on Monday, October 29th: 7 – 9 pm AND Sunday, November 18th: 3 – 5 pm.
Info sessions will be held at the SWBID offices, 420 4th Street SW. An RSVP is required for the How to Fringe info sessions. To RSVP, or if you have questions or challenges in submitting an application, please contact Lee Cromwell, Festival Producer by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone between 10 am – 6 pm M-F at 202.737.7230.
