A musical comedy about two young singles who have been set up on a blind date and are having dinner in a restaurant. What could possibly be more exciting after the past year?
As its first full-scale virtual musical production, Nextstop Theatre Company in Herndon, Virginia, presents First Date—by Austin Winsberg (book) and Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner (music and lyrics)—a show that pokes fun at the mishaps and mistakes of blind dates and gives hope that making a real connection is still possible.
Casey and Aaron, two young singles, are set up on a blind date by friends and family, even though they seemingly have absolutely nothing in common. With the influence and unsolicited advise of their friends and family (playing out in their imaginations), a matchmaking waiter, and all the dangers of social media at their fingertips, this first date could be a disaster…or it might be destiny.
Directed by Artistic Director Evan Hoffmann with a contemporary rock score music-directed by Paige Rammelkamp, First Date features Taylor Witt and Alex De Bard as the couple on the date, along with Abby Middleton, Andres Alejandro Ponce, Carl Williams, and Sarah Anne Sillers.
First Date is a filmed musical that will be available for streaming virtually April 30 to May 16, 2021, through ShowTix4U.com. As in live theater, performances have scheduled start times—Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 7pm. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online.
